Canada - Major wind power project developers and financiers to gather at industry's annual deal-making event
The wind industry's annual gathering of power project developers, lenders, investors, and other key players, the annual "Wind Power Finance & Investment Summit," produced by Infocast, will be held in San Diego, CA, February 11-13, 2009.
The wind industry has once again shattered all records for new installed capacity, although against a backdrop of uncertainty as the credit markets tightened. The market is adjusting to the new realities of scarcer capital at higher prices and a realignment of asset values. But the fundamentals for wind remain strong and the industry continues to be the most dynamic driver for growth and innovation in the energy space. With the new Administration's promise of strong support for the renewable energy sector, 2009 is expected to bring more growth, more conservative deals, more creative financing, more asset sales and restructurings, and more twist and turns for the wind power market.
The annual Summit will bring together the wind industry's leading project developers, lenders, investors, and other key players to discuss developments in wind power finance and investment, as well as the various challenges and prospects for 2009 and beyond.
Topics will include:
- Strategic, Independent and Offshore Wind Developers' perspectives on the current market
- Investors discussing criteria for evaluating and investing in wind power projects and technology companies
- Lenders detailing terms and structures for project financing
- Utilities' insight into wind power project ownership
- Consolidation and M&A activities in 2009 and beyond
- IPO opportunities for wind developers
- An in-depth technical workshop, "Buying and Selling Wind Power Assets," precedes the Summit. The workshop will provide the latest insights into valuing wind power assets, identifying potential hurdles to deals, negotiating deals, and structuring financing the transaction.
