Estonia - Eesti Energia plans to turn the ashfield into a wind power park
Estonia’s state owned power company Eesti Energia plans to turn an ashfield in Northeast Estonia into a wind power park.
Eesti Päevaleht that the management of Eesti Energia is planning to build Estonia’s largest wind power park with a capacity of 34 MW on the former ashfield of Baltic Power Stations in Narva.
The project will cost almost EUR 7 billion of which 84 pct would be provided by EU funds and cover 318 hectares. The interest of EU is to minimize the danger of having oil shale residues enter the ground water and natural water bodies. Therefore, Eesti Energia will have to cover the area with grass.
