Canada - NaiKun Wind Energy Group registers offshore wind project with BC Hydro
NaiKun Wind Energy Group Inc. (NaiKun) is pleased to announce today that its 320 MW Phase 1 offshore wind project has been registered with BC Hydro as part of the Clean Power Call Request for Proposal (RFP) process. Phase 1 will supply 120,000 B.C. homes with clean electricity and move the Province closer to achieving its goal of becoming energy self-sufficient by 2016.
“This is one of several steps in BC Hydro’s RFP process,” said Paul Taylor, President of NaiKun Wind Energy Group, “and one that reinforces our continued commitment to moving our offshore wind energy project forward and delivering clean, renewable energy for British Columbians.”
NaiKun’s team of experienced energy experts, engineers, project managers and other specialists continues to be focused on preparing a competitive bid designed to secure an energy purchase agreement with BC Hydro. Bids are due by November 25, 2008.
For Phase 1, NaiKun has formed a 50/50 partnership with ENMAX Corporation (ENMAX) in the project’s power generation subsidiary, NaiKun Wind Generating Inc. ENMAX is a Calgary headquartered energy distribution, supply and service company with expertise in building energy projects, including wind.
NaiKun Wind Energy Group Inc. is a Vancouver-based renewable energy company that is traded on the TSX Venture Exchange. Its subsidiary, NaiKun Wind Development Inc., is engaged in the development of an offshore wind energy project in Hecate Strait off the coast of British Columbia.
