China - NDRC approves nation's first offshore wind power project
The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said it has approved construction of the East China Sea Bridge wind farm off Shanghai, the country's first offshore wind power project.
The project, which will have installed capacity of 102,000 kilowatts, will be built by a consortium including China Guangdong Nuclear Power Holdings, China Datang Group, China Power International Holdings and Shanghai Green Energy Engineering.
The wind farm is expected to start operations in the first half of 2010.
