Canada - NaiKun Wind Energy hammers out deal with Haida Nation and Germanischer Lloyd Wind Energy
NaiKun Wind Energy has secured agreements with a key industry leader and hammered out an agreement with the Haida Nation to help deliver its offshore wind farm in the Hecate Strait.
The 320-megawatt project will provide power to 120,000 British Columbian homes. NaiKun entered into a formal agreement with the Council of the Haida Nation and introduced the HaidaLink concept to connect Haida Gwaii to the main energy grid. This connection will help Haida Gwaii residents use clean power instead of diesel and gas to power their homes and activities.
The company has also signed a contract with project certification experts Germanischer Lloyd Wind Energy to assist with quality management services for the design, engineering and construction of the project. Environmental field research for the project’s assessment is ongoing.
