Wind Industry Profile of
First E-nacelle installed at customer's site
The new E-nacelle is box-shaped, 14.06 meters long, 4.99 meters wide and 3.40 meters high. Thanks to the compact design, relevant savings potentials can be realized in production, transport and logistics, and installation. Thus E-nacelles are fully cabled and function-tested at the factory. The conversion of the power cables from low to medium voltage shortens the commissioning phase. All in all power generation costs will be reduced, which should make the turbine manufacturer from Aurich more competitive.
"The E-nacelle is one of our most important product developments," says ENERCON CTO Jörg Scholle. "By integrating the power system into the nacelle, we have taken the final step towards a state-of-the-art product design for this main component – a substantial contribution to lowering the cost of energy."
The first E-nacelle was erected at the Hämelhausen wind farm in Germany over the weekend using the new turbine design.
"We are proud that we can install the first wind energy converter with E-nacelle. The new concept has already proved its worth in the real world. Its plug & play features optimise processes at the construction site significantly," says project manager Christoph Madena.
