The new facility will be about 120,000 m2 and will include covered areas for welding, surface treatment and assembly work, as well as an open area for storing finished components. The plant, which will produce up to 100 towers per year, has been specifically designed for the production of the new generation of offshore wind turbines (14-16 MW) and will enable mass production of sections weighing up to 450 tonnes, with a diameter of 10 metres and a length of 50 metres, Windar renovables said.

Production is expected to start in early 2024. Target market will be mainly Poland, but also other countries in the Baltic and North Sea regions, where demand is expected to increase in the coming years.

In Poland, the first 5.9 GW of offshore wind was recently auctioned. According to current plans, the first offshore wind farms should start generating clean energy by 2025. Auctions for the second phase of projects, estimated at around 5 GW, are scheduled to take place between 2025 and 2027.
