Wind Industry Profile of
Russia Commissions Largest Wind Farm to Date
The Kochubeyevskaya wind farm is located in the Stavropol region and consists of 84 wind turbines. It has an installed capacity of 210 MW and is the second project completed by NovaWind JSC - the Rosatom division responsible for implementing wind power projects. As is customary in Russia, many of the wind farm's components were manufactured locally to support the local economy. In total, this share amounts to 65 per cent.
Alexander Korchagin, General Director of NovaWind JSC explained: "Successful experience in the construction and operation of wind turbines, the implementation of plans to create mass production of components and assemblies of wind turbines in Russia, an efficient supply chain, including the participation of state corporation companies, allowed us to reach a system level in the implementation of projects in wind energy and complete the project to build the Kochubeyevskaya wind power plant in two years. Stavropol Krai has become our key region. This was mainly due to the interest and support of the local authorities and personally the Governor of Stavropol Krai V. Vladimirov."
