Sweden - Permission granted for Lillgrund Wind Fram to construct 115m wind turbine

Electricity generation for 60,000 homes by the end of 2007

The Administrative Court of Appeal has rejected an appeal from the Swedish Municipality of Velling and granted Vattenfall permission to complete the construction of Lillgrund Wind Farm at a planned height of 115m

'We are happy to be able to complete construction using the increased height. Ten metres cannot be seen with the naked eye at this distance from land, but these 10 metres are important to the generation capacity of the wind power plants which increases by one per cent per metre,' said Anders Dahl, head of Vattenfall Wind Power.

Vattenfall plans to install the wind power plants at the end of the summer. The Lillgrund Wind Farm, the largest wind farm in Sweden, is expected to generate electricity for 60,000 homes by the end of 2007, which will increase to 1.6 billion homes over a 10-year period.
