Wind Industry Profile of
Delta Wind Cluster: Repsol Commissions First Wind Farms
The Delta cluster consists of eight wind farms in the provinces of Zaragoza and Teruel with a total of 89 wind turbines and a capacity of 335 MW. The construction and commissioning of these wind farms was completed in less than 12 months and required an investment of €300 million. The project, which is initially in test operation, is expected to enter commercial operation at the end of the year.
Delta will produce 992 GWh of clean energy per year, equivalent to the average annual consumption of 300,000 households, avoiding the emissions of one million tonnes of CO2 per year.
Repsol is planning another seven renewable energy projects on the Iberian Peninsula, which are at various stages of development and together will have a total capacity of 2,300 MW.
These include Delta 2, consisting of 26 wind farms in the provinces of Huesca, Zaragoza and Teruel with a total of 860 MW; the PI farm, also using wind technology, in the provinces of Palencia and Valladolid with a total installed capacity of 195 MW and various solar farms. The company is also involved in the WindFloat Atlantic offshore wind farm off the north coast of Portugal with a total installed capacity of 25 MW.
