Wind Industry Profile of
EnBW Baltic 2: Service from Denmark
From August onwards, the service for one of the largest German offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea will no longer be carried out from Rostock, but will be relocated to Klintholm in Denmark. Up to now, up to 25 service employees have been brought in from Rostock to a hotel ship directly positioned at the wind farm. In the future, the transfer will take place from Denmark, where a hotel and a service building are currently being built in Klintholm so that the workers can stay on land at night.
"The proximity to our wind farms offers us unique opportunities here," said Kent Hougaard of EnBW Offshore Services Danmark (EOS). "We expect noticeable savings and synergies as the journey from Klintholm harbour only takes just over an hour."
However, Baltic 2 will continue to be controlled from the control room in Barhöft, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany, where information and data from the facilities are routed to, but the accommodation of workers on the island near the meeting point of the Danish, Swedish and German maritime borders is also logistically simpler.
