Discovery of the Day

The state of Victoria starts to rebel against the Australian Government and introduces its own legislation that will fast-track priority projects like grid-scale batteries and transmission upgrades.

It looks like the Victorian government has had enough: "In a dramatic split from national electricity supply rules, Victoria is moving to enable urgent upgrades to the energy transmission network, introducing legislation that will unlock renewable projects and improve the reliability of the state’s energy supply," reports PV Magazine Australia.

This means the state goes head-to-head with the federal government which is famously pro-coal and has ignored most of the calls for more climate action up to now. PV Magazine's Marija Maisch has conducted an article following the latest news from Australia: "Victoria decides to go it alone on transmission to unlock more large-scale renewables and batteries".
