Fugro Supports TenneT in Grid Expansion in Northern Germany
The new contract relates to the expansion of the grid in northern Germany and includes detailed site characterisations for a 38-kilometer section from Husum to Niebüll in Schleswig-Holstein. Last year, Fugro had already investigated a 46-kilometre section between Heide and Husum.
The new 380 kV west coast power line is an important energy project that will transport the wind energy generated on the west coast of Germany to the south of the country. The 140-kilometre-long, high-capacity high-voltage line is one of several lines built to transport coastal electricity.
The Business Development Manager for Fugro, Roberto Quaas, explains the complexity of the site characterization campaign: “Effective management of the many aspects of this project is a key part of our specialist service offering. Providing TenneT with a single point of contact, our team liaises with landowners, manages logistics and delivers site investigation services, combining drilling and sampling, CPT, dynamic probing and laboratory testing to deliver accurate analysis of ground characteristics. We are very pleased to have been selected again for this project and appreciate the opportunity to continue our close and valued relationship with TenneT.”
