Energy Utilities in Northwest US rely on wind energy
The expansion of the Thunder Spirit wind farm near Hettinger, ND, increases its capacity to around 150 megawatts, while the acquisition increases Montana-Dakota's production portfolio from around 20 percent of renewable energies to 25 percent. The original Thunder Spirit wind project had 107.5 megawatts with 43 turbines and was designed by ACE. Now the park is being expanded and both companies are continuing their successful partnership.
"Our relationship with ACE on the first phase of Thunder Spirit Wind proved to be a winning formula. We are in need of additional energy to meet our growing demands, and with the easements, interconnection to the grid and permits already in place from the first phase of Thunder Spirit Wind, it makes this a great project for Montana-Dakota," said company President and CEO Nicole Kivisto.
