German Environment Minister Gabriel opens WindEnergy 2006

„Renewables will continue to grow - with positive impact for the independence of German energy supply, for environmental and climate protection, and not least as an innovation factor for German business," said Federal Environment Minister Sigmar Gabriel (SPD), while presenting a study by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) on renewables in Berlin in mid-January. Alongside hydro, the Environment Ministry sees wind energy as a clean and inexpensive alternative energy form, one of the most efficient among the renewables. This view is impressively supported by WindEnergy - International Trade Fair, the leading international exhibition of the wind industry since its establishment in 2002. We are all the more pleased that Sigmar Gabriel has agreed to address the WindEnergy 2006 at the Opening Ceremony on 16 May.

The importance of the WindEnergy 2006 as an industry event is also reflected in the steady rise in exhibitor interest. Since the beginning of space allocation in September, registrations have been received by so many companies, trade associations and institutions that the fair is already three-quarters booked, just under four months before it starts.

International interest in partnership with the WindEnergy as the leading exhibition in this sector continues to be large - since the beginning of the year, further support has been obtained in addition to the existing cooperation partners in many countries and with the EWEA. The new partners for WindEnergy are the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA) and the Japanese Wind Power Association (JWPA). This helps to establish WindEnergy 2006 even more firmly as the ideal information and contact platform - not only for the Asian market, but for the wind industry worldwide.
