wpd opens up new wind energy market with entry into USA

The foundations for this move were laid with the signing of the contract to take over Volkswind USA Inc., with its head office in Portland in the US State of Oregon. The company was founded in 2008. The team based there is working on various wind farm projects in different states of the USA. 

"We see major potential in the American wind energy market and we are looking forward to expanding wpd's international activities together with the local team, and implementing promising projects", states Dr. Gernot Blanke, CEO at wpd. 

wpd also has recent success to report in South America. On August 18th 2016, the Chilean Energy Ministry announced the results of an extensive invitation to tender for delivering electricity. wpd won contracts for three projects with a total volume of 350 MW, all to be erected by 2021.
