Taiwan - Taiwan Wind Energy Association founded under the auspices of ITRI
The Taiwan Wind Energy Association (TWEA) was formally established on January 10 by the government-sponsored Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), with president Dr Anil Shreedhar Kane of the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) attending the inauguration ceremony, according to ITRI. ITRI’s executive vice president Hsin-sen Chu was elected as president of TWEA. According to Chu, TWEA has the following goals and tasks: draw up strategies on wind-driven power generation for government policy making and private investments; serve as a platform for international cooperation and domestic information services and education; promote technological testing and certification for wind-driven power generation; coordinate regulations and financing regarding construction and operation of wind-driven power plants. TWEA aims for a total wind-driven power generating capacity of 2,159 MWp (megawatts-peak) in 2010, Chu pointed out.
