Wind Industry Profile of
UK: RES awarding Nordex UK two new contracts for a combined 42.5 MW
Nordex will be supplying seven N100/2500 turbines for the “Turncole” wind farm in Essex. With delivery sched-uled for July 2016, the turbines will be fully operational in January 2017.
The second project “Minnygap” is located in Dumfries and Galloway in south-western Scotland. Nordex will likewise be supplying N100/2500 turbines for this wind farm from August of next year. Fitted with ten turbines, the wind farm will have a capacity of 25 MW and will also be going online in January 2017.
Both sites are characterised by moderate wind speeds. Consequently, the N100/2500, which is designed for wind class IEC 2, is the perfect choice for these projects. Nordex will be installing the turbines on 75-metre towers at both wind farms and providing premium service for five years.
“Repeat business is the best compliment a customer can pay us. RES have owned operational Nordex turbines since early 2009 and know our products and our team well. We are delighted that RES chose Nordex for these two projects, and grateful for their trust in our prod-ucts and our team,” says Nordex CEO Lars Bondo Krogsgaard.
UK company RES is one of the world’s largest players in the renewa-ble energies sector. Active for more than 30 years in the market, its core skills include the development and operation of onshore and off-shore wind farms as well as solar energy. With an installed onshore wind power capacity around the world of around 9 GW, RES is an in-fluential and important partner for Nordex, which will be additionally strengthening its status in the UK with these two new contracts.
