Netherlands - Nuon selling Spanish wind operations
Dutch energy company Nuon has put its Spanish wind energy unit Desa up for sale and has received offers from six Spanish companies including Endesa SA and Iberdrola SA, Het Financieele Dagblad reported citing a Nuon spokesman. According to Spanish newspaper Expansion, the sale is expected to fetch around 500 mln eur, the Dutch paper said. Desa runs seven wind farms with a total capacity of 274 megawatt, and has a 3 to 4 pct share of the Spanish wind energy market. Nuon 'has asked Citigroup to investigate the options for divesting (the Spanish activities). The sale process is under way,' the spokesman said. He added the company's strategy will now be focused on the Northwestern European market, which at present includes the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Activities in, for example, water and energy companies outside the core countries will be divested.
