DONG Energy awards European Cable Framework Agreement to Briggs Marine

DONG Energy has awarded an eight year framework agreement to the Fife-based Briggs Group for the contingency and repair of export and array cables for offshore wind farms throughout the UK and Northern Europe.

The agreement covers all DONG Energy's sites in Europe, including nine offshore wind farms in the UK, five in Denmark and four in Germany.

Briggs first started working with DONG Energy in 2014 offering an interim repair capability for their UK wind farms. Following a competitive tender process, the new framework agreement will run from May 2015 for a fixed period of five years with the possibility of extending the contract by three years.

Benj Sykes, Vice President and Head of Asset Management for DONG Energy Wind Power said: "Ensuring that export and array cable issues are quickly resolved is vital to maintaining reliable operation of our wind farms. This framework agreement builds on our existing relationship with the Briggs Group and is designed to ensure availability of power and mitigate against any possible production losses."

Collieson Briggs, Managing Director of the Briggs Group, said: "Concluding an agreement of this magnitude is a great achievement for our offshore cables business and our ongoing relationship with DONG Energy is a testimony of our experience in this area. I am delighted with the news of this significant win and extending our working relationship with a company like DONG, an established leader in offshore wind energy."
