Roxtec: Sealing the future in the Port of Verkö

The Port of Verkö in Karlskrona, Sweden, is developed through public as well as private investments. Sometimes, the key word is cable: When cable manufacturer ABB expands, the municipally owned Affärsverken expands the grid.

And the new cables are, of course, safely sealed by solutions from the neighboring cable and pipe transit manufacturer Roxtec.

Since ABB started the expansion project and announced an increasing need for electricity in the industrial area on Verkö, Affärsverken has developed the power grid and the optic fiber network, and also built a first class power distribution substation. It has the capacity to support a continuous development with an increasing number of growing companies and intensified activity in the Port of Verkö.

Secure and stable supply

The cables entering the substation foundation through the round openings are sealed with customized versions of the Roxtec UG™, which is a product family developed to keep tight against constant water pressure underground. Roxtec cable and pipe seals protect sensitive equipment against water, dirt and dust, and contributes to secure power supply. It is important in order to enable continuous growth in the port – as well as at Roxtec.

“We have had another fantastic year and we are now more than 700 employees around the world. Our products are used in mega projects all over the planet, but it feels good to know that they perform well also at home”, says Niklas Richardsson, Sales Manager of Roxtec Sweden.
