Wind Industry Profile of
Ontarians rank wind energy and other renewables as the most environmentally friendly source of new electricity.
“The survey confirms that Ontarians believe that protecting the environment should be the single most important factor in determining future electricity-generation projects in the province,” says Brandy Giannetta, CanWEA’s Ontario Regional Director. “Ontarians believe wind is a safer and more environmentally friendly way to generate electricity than natural gas power plants or nuclear reactors.”
The Nanos polling also confirms the need for more information on wind energy and the benefits the industry brings to Ontario.
“Many Ontarians are not aware of how cost competitive wind energy is as an attractive electricity supply option,” Giannetta says. “Wind energy is a scalable electricity source with superior environmental characteristics; well suited to help Ontario address future economic and environmental priorities.”
CanWEA has updated its WindFacts portal with new information on the Nanos survey. Supported by national energy experts and wind energy industry leaders, the WindFacts platform continues to ensure Canadians receive straight answers to their questions on wind energy.
“CanWEA anticipates the Government of Ontario will continue to make long-term investments in renewables such as wind energy,” Giannetta adds. “The Ontario Government can be confident that public opinion is very much on side.”
