Wind Industry Profile of
Exhibition Ticker - Offshore Wind Energy Industry to meet at the AWEA Offshore WINDPOWER Conference & Exhibition
U.S. offshore wind energy development achieved major milestones in 2013, with several projects in the advanced development stages, two successful competitive lease auctions hosted by the U.S. Department of the Interior and the U.S. Department of Energy’s major investment in advanced demonstration projects.
The AWEA Offshore WINDPOWER Conference & Exhibition, hosted in partnership with the Offshore Wind Development Coalition (OffshoreWindDC), is the premier offshore wind energy event in North America. All aspects of the offshore industry will be on display in the exhibition hall and discussed.

U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell, Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee, U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy Environmental Affairs Secretary Richard K. Sullivan will keynote this year’s AWEA Offshore WINDPOWER event on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 9:30 am.
Key federal agency leaders will present during the “Advancing Development through Federal Agency Leadership” session, including:
- Steven Chalk, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Renewable Energy, U.S. Department of Energy
- Walter Cruickshank, Ph.D., Deputy Director, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM)
- Sally Yozell, Director of Policy, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
Later in the conference, the winners of the Department of Energy’s Advanced Technology Demonstration Project Initiative will be participating in the closing general session, “U.S. DOE Demonstration Awards: Competitive Design to Deployment”. Learn how these breakthrough projects will help to reduce costs, accelerate permitting timelines, and offer new options for U.S. offshore wind energy.
