Nordex wins 22.5 MW Sweden wind energy order
The wind turbine manufacturer Nordex is continuing to steadily fortify its market position in Sweden and is now supplying nine N100/2500 wind turbines for the Bösjövarden wind farm.
The contractor and client is the leading Nordic wind farm developer O2, which only recently awarded Nordex a contract for the delivery of 24 N117/3000 Generation Delta turbines. This brings the total capacity which O2 ordered from Nordex this year to over 94 MW.
The turbines are to be delivered in summer 2014. Nordex will be supplying cold-climate versions of the turbines and additionally fitting out the rotor blades with its anti-icing system. Located in central Sweden near the town of Mora, Bösjövarden is characterised by temperatures down to -20 degrees Celsius in the winter months. The system reduces output losses and turbine down times caused by ice, thus boosting annual energy production substantially.
“The follow-up order from O2 shows that our cold-climate turbines fitted with the anti-icing system for rotor blades are a highly attractive option for our customers operating wind farms in regions with long and very cold winters. This is paying off for Nordex in the growth markets of Northern Europe in particular,” says Lars Bondo Krogsgaard, a member of Nordex SE’s Management Board. O2 develops, builds, finances and manages wind farms.
The company is a leader in large-scale onshore windpower in the Nordic region. Together with its partners and investors, O2 continuously drives development forward towards a sustainable future. The company’s head office is in Stockholm, Sweden
