Borealis and Borouge are making everyday life easier at Plast Eurasia 2012
Hall 7, Stand 708A
November 29 – December 2, 2012
Tüyap Fair Convention and Congress Center
Istanbul, Turkey
On stand 708A, advanced applications which are making everyday life easier
demonstrate the potential offered by Borealis and Borouge’s polyolefin
innovations to enhance product capabilities and aesthetics whilst delivering time
and resource savings to plastics processors and end product manufacturers for
the advanced packaging, healthcare, mobility and infrastructure sectors.
Incorporating the latest polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) materials, the
featured applications reflect Borealis and Borouge’s commitment in supporting
high quality and differentiation alongside more efficient and environmentally
sustainable manufacturing.
Advanced packaging solutions
There is an increasing market demand for more customer convenience and
design-appeal in the advanced packaging sector. The introduction of two new
peelable PP compounds for transparent lidding film and peel against itself
applications supply an answer: Borpeel™ WD955CF and Steripeel™ WE950CF.
These grades provide superior optics, a new level of transparency and a broad
processing window.
Furthermore proprietary Borealis Nucleation Technology (BNT) is improving the
properties and performance of PP for rigid lightweight packaging and enabling greater productivity through faster processing, energy savings and moulding
cycle time reductions. New grades bringing the advantages of BNT to the market
include BorPure™ RF490MO, BorPure™ RJ766MO and Bormod™ BH381MO.
BorPure RF490MO for transparent and non-opaque coloured hinged closures
offers high performance coupled with the possibility to downgauge by 10%, cycle
time reduction by as much as 10% and lower energy consumption by 5%.
BorPure RJ766MO is a high flow solution for transparent thin wall food packaging
offering excellent organoleptics. It allows for faster cycle times in combination
with good drop impact and top-load resistance. Last but not least, Bormod
BH381MO offers very high stiffness, excellent flow and impact properties to
support the sustainability and product quality goals of manufacturers of industrial
pails for food, paint, do it yourself (DIY) and other consumables. Lower
processing temperatures and injection pressures enable cycle time reductions
also for complex parts.
In addition to their lightweight moulded packaging solutions, Borealis and
Borouge will present their full range of Bormed™ polyolefins which meet the
challenging needs of primary pharmaceutical and diagnostic packaging for the
healthcare sector.
Mobility solutions
Innovative components and under-the-bonnet applications will demonstrate the
added-value of pioneering Xmod™ short glass fibre (SGF) reinforced PP
compounds for global automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and
Tier One suppliers. The compounds provide a viable alternative to traditional,
higher-density engineering plastics and offer comparable mechanical properties,
sound-dampening advantage, weight reduction potential and processing
performance benefits. An excellent example is Xmod™ GB477HP. This grade is
used for front end carriers, pedal carriers and tailgate carriers. Intended for
injection moulding, Xmod GB477HP offers tremendous stiffness, required for
structural parts, as well as properties independent from humidity.
Infrastructure solutions
Reflecting their on-going support for sustainability and high-performance within
the pipe sector, Borealis and Borouge will present their new family of products
intended for drip irrigation applications, Borstar® Aquility™. Initiated with the
launch of pigmented Borstar® Aquility™ HE3408 and un-pigmented Borstar®
Aquility™ ME3407, the new tailored PE materials optimise productivity and
rationalise costs for producers in the creation of water-saving, thin wall drip
irrigation pipes and tapes.
Updates in the wire and cable sector include the recently launched Borlink™, a
technology platform offering a complete global package of power materials,
experience, knowledge and support. Borlink™ is a wire and cable industry-wide
platform cross-linking the technology, products and expertise to connect networks
and grids as well as people and their access to energy.
“Plastics play an essential role in improving our quality of life for example by
providing access to clean water or reducing emissions from automobiles,”
comments Alfred Stern, Borealis Executive Vice President Polyolefins. “We are
taking active steps to improve the possibilities for manufacturers in this region to
benefit from our innovative solutions as exemplified by the end products on
display on our stand,” he continues.
“Borealis and Borouge are committed to supporting the demand growth in the
Eurasian markets,” says Hussain Sultan Ahmad Lootah, Senior Vice President
for Middle East, Africa and Europe of Borouge Pte Ltd. “We aim to take the
region’s plastics processors, manufacturers and brand owners a step closer to
achieve the efficiency, high-quality and environmental-related benefits they need
to be sustainable within their markets,” he concludes.
