An Acciona Energy engineer wins Spain’s “Eolo” Innovation 2012 Award
An Acciona Energy engineer, Iñigo Etayo Otermin, will collect later today the "Eolo" Innovation 2012 Award, with which the Spanish Wind Energy Association [Spanish acronym AEE] acknowledges an outstanding research project carried out in Spain.
The award-winning project sets out to study the problem of electromagnetic interference caused by wind farms and their effects on nearby telecommunications systems; the information obtained is then used when designing these facilities and help to avoid the need to adopt additional measures to ensure that communications systems continue to function correctly. The title of the project is "A study of WTG scattering using mathematical formulation and 3D electromagnetic simulation software", and has been carried out as a final postgraduate project at the Public University of Navarre (Spain).
Iñigo Etayo was born 32 years ago in Estella (Navarre, Spain). He is a Telecoms Engineer and holds a doctorate in Information and Communications Technologies from Spain's University of Navarre. He joined ACCIONA Energy six years ago and is currently part of the Company's Energy Resources team.
The "Eolo" Innovation 2012 Award will be presented this evening at an institutional dinner organized by the AEE as part of the Association's Annual Windpower Convention.
