The combined order volume for all six projects is more than USD900 million. "Wind power is a business sector with a high growth rate worldwide and creates jobs in the areas of production, installation and service." Since entering the U.S. wind power market in 2005, Siemens has already created approximately 1800 jobs there. In addition to a rotor blade manufacturing facility in Fort Madison, Iowa, a nacelle production plant in Hutchinson, Kansas, and service centers in Goldendale, Washington and in Houston, Texas, the company has scheduled to open a wind service distribution center this year in Woodward, Oklahoma, and a distribution and tooling center in Wichita, Kansas. The company is a strong number two in the U.S. wind market today and also holds a leading position in Canada, with the number one position in the Ontario wind market. In South America, Siemens Energy is gaining a foothold in the wind market. To date, more than 3,700 units of this wind turbine type have been installed globally.
