Wind Industry Profile of
Deutsche Windtechnik has been commissioned to provide maintenance for six Senvion 5M turbines at the first German offshore wind park alpha ventus
Standard maintenance contract lowers the operating costs
Lower costs, higher risk. This was the thinking behind the decision by Deutsche Offshore-Testfeld und Infrastruktur GmbH & Co. KG (DOTI) to sign a standard maintenance contract with Deutsche Windtechnik. The DOTI consortium consists of EWE, E.ON and Vattenfall. The contract will run for five years and covers remote monitoring, scheduled maintenance and comprehensive service at cost for the six turbines, including possible replacement of large components and stockpiling of spare parts. This contract model has already been successfully implemented by Deutsche Windtechnik X-Service GmbH for several of EWE AG's onshore wind farms. "This model has proven to be successful, even though the operator's portfolio should be of a certain size. The cost reduction potential is significant, provided the turbine does not suffer severe damage", says Severin Mielimonka, Managing Director of Deutsche Windtechnik X-Service GmbH, regarding the advantages of this type of contract.
Deutsche Windtechnik participated in the tender as a bidding consortium. "As a group with a wide range of competencies, we offer an optimal combination of technical expertise for the turbines and experience in planning, coordinating and carrying out offshore projects", Severin Mielimonka says about the reasons for commissioning the full-service company.
Onshore project as a basis
EWE Erneuerbare Energien GmbH had already signed a two-year service contract with Deutsche Windtechnik for an onshore Senvion 5M turbine in Neuenwalde near Cuxhaven. The contents of the contract are similar to those of the offshore contract. This helps the partners gather initial experience in their cooperation. "The service job in Neuenwalde began in July 2016, and we will continue to gather project experience until the beginning of next year. We will then carry out an in-depth assessment of our need-based maintenance concept. We are already collaborating with Deutsche Windtechnik on other onshore wind farms, so we are expecting to achieve good results", explains Ewald Heyen, Asset Manager at EWE.
