A broad political coalition in the Danish parliament has made an agreement which secures the completion of the Danish near shore tender of 350 MW. The tender was won by Swedish utility Vattenfall in September and has been subject to big uncertainty since, as the Danish government has proposed to cancel the tender. An uncertainty that has now been eradicated.
Denmark should ban coal use by 2025 to make the Nordic nation a leader in fighting global warming, adding to green measures ranging from wind energy to bicycle power, Denmark’s climate minister said on Saturday.
The new Danish centre-left coalition government has increased targets on wind capacity. Wind power is set to represent 50 percent of the total power consumption in Denmark in 2020.
