The Tripod: A Robust Type Of Structure

OWT early recognised the demand for a wind turbine  suitable support structure for water depth above 25m.  Therefore the development of the Tripod to a support  structure for wind turbine started immediately.  

The system Tripod was already widely used in the oil & gas  industry, where experiences could be mobilised for its new  purpose.  

In 2006 after long term development a Tripod was built as  onshore demonstrator at Bremerhaven (Germany). Built in  2008 and installed 2009 the Tripod was used as support  structure for 6 Multibrid M5000 for the project alpha ventus.  

The Tripod is a robust type of structure that provides a  number of essential advantages. A certification to actual  standards, e.g. Germanischer Lloyd, DNV and SGS, is self- evident.
