Steel tube towers and Foundation structures Off- and Onshore

Regenerative energies will also play an increasingly pivotal role in future. Drawing on its four efficiently networked plants in Bremen, Gräfenhainichen, Am Mellensee, Dessau-Roßlau and Cuxhaven and their consequently high production capacities, AMBAU GmbH is perfectly prepared for this growth market. The precise production tolerance requirements and the rising quality standards especially necessitate a high degree of automation and state of the art production systems. AMBAU GmbH has enhanced the technology used in the Cuxhaven and Bremen plants, specifically in order to cater to the large dimensions of the towers in offshore wind energy systems. Pursuing permanent innovation and investments in production technology and capacity enhancement, for instance, AMBAU GmbH has secured a leading market position. The competence head-start in the onshore segment goes hand in hand with this expertise in the offshore field. The reason: specialisation in conical and cylindrical components - towers and tube components. Furthermore, the well-thought-out quality management and consistent documentation of all processes and tests provide the decisive competitive advantage.

Foundation structures Off- and Onshore

Capacities have been expanded with a view to the offshore wind systems. Drawing on its two transshipment facilities, the AMBAU plant in Cuxhaven has optimum conditions to ship all of its products directly across the North Sea o any given destination. The product portfolio ranges from towers for onshore wind energy plants to large offshore towers for 5-megawatt-plus plants. In addition, the product range includes monopoles, jackets, transition pieces and secondary steel. In total, roughly 450 foundation structures and approximately 600 towers for on and offshore wind energy systems leave the AMBAU plants each year. It stands to reason therefore that AMBAU GmbH has qualified as exclusive project partner for Germany's first offshore wind park "alpha ventus", the first offshore wind park in which a dozen wind power systems in the 5-megawatt class are in use. In this pilot project, fundamental experience in the construction and operation of an offshore wind park will be gathered under the rough conditions of the at times stormy North Sea roughly 45 kilometres of the coast of Borkum and at water depths of around 30 metres. All 12 towers for high-performance wind turbines were supplied by AMBAU GmbH. When in full operation, "alpha ventus" will cover the annual energy requirements of 50,000 households. No wonder that AMBAU GmbH is proud to have played an active role in structuring this "key undertaking for the future".
