Sweden - Eolus Vind acquires 36MW from Vestas

Vestas has received a 36 MW order from Eolus Vind AB for delivery of 18 units of the V90-2.0 MW wind turbine. This wind power order is the first call-off from the framework agreement of 180 MW with Eolus, which Vestas confirmed to the market on 5 July 2011, ref. company announcement No. 31/2011.
The first 18 wind turbines are being delivered and installed at seven different wind farm projects in the southern parts of Sweden in the localities of Skara, Kristianstad, Munkedal, Ulricehamn and Hallsberg. Commissioning of the wind turbines is expected to start in the second quarter of 2012.

Klaus Steen Mortensen, President of Vestas Northern Europe, emphasises the importance of building and maintaining long-term relationships with Eolus Vind AB as one of the key players in the Swedish market: “Our journey with Eolus is now continuing with this new framework agreement,” he says.
Eolus and Vestas have been business partners for over 20 years driving the development of wind power forward in Sweden.
“With this first order within the framework agreement, we would like to acknowledge our close cooperation with Vestas. Vestas’ organisation and project execution is of great importance to the success of our business,” says Gustaf Ekberg, CEO of Eolus Vind.
Vestas Northern Europe is one of seven Sales Business Units in the Vestas Group. The company manages all sales, construction and service operations for onshore wind turbines in the countries of Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, the Baltic States, Poland, Ireland and the United Kingdom. As of 30 of June 2011, Vestas Northern Europe has delivered a cumulative capacity of 6,545 MW, representing 14 per cent of Vestas’ global onshore capacity.
Eolus Vind AB is one of the leading Swedish wind power developers. Since the beginning in 1990, Eolus has installed more than 310 wind turbines, representing about 15 per cent of the total capacity in Sweden.
