Wind Industry Profile of

Windfair-Interview with Christian Adamczyk, Team Leader Marketing, SIAG Projektentwicklung GmbH

Windfair: Please tell us about SIAG.

Christian Adamczyk: Since 1996 SIAG Schaaf has been a steel construction company and the leading wind energy supplier for the onshore market.
With the acquisition of Thyssen Nordseewerke in 2009, SIAG has been involved in the offshore market as a leading supplier for steel pipe towers, ground structures, and transformer platforms. The SIAG group employs 2000 people in 12 offices worldwide, including Europe, Africa, and the United States.

Windfair: What is 'Wind of Help'?

Christian Adamczyk: The project was started by Mrs. Schaaf to help the people of Japan. The Japanese catastrophe is not as present in the media as it was, but this does not mean the problem will not exist for years to come. Japan has shown that our ways, those of renewable energies, are the right ones. The wind industry should do something to raise funds, with projects like this one.

Windfair: Please outline the project for us.

Christian Adamczyk: The project was created with the premise that no ads will be made for specific companies but instead to offer a free platform: www.wind-of-help.de. Companies from the wind industry can show their solidarity supporting the project by using our logo. They can also use their own initiative to bring attention to the project or even sell our pins at trade shows to raise money for the Red Cross' Japan Fund.

Windfair: What does the future look like for your company regarding wind energy?

Christian Adamczyk: Since the crisis in Japan, we are all faced with challenges. We see the best chance for market growth being onshore. Offshore is a booming market, but is just getting started.
We have made our initial offshore deals and our outlook is positive for the next 5 years. The offshore market will be one of the most exciting areas for the industry.
