SGS to Attend the International Wind Turbine Blade Manufacture Conference 2010 in Düsseldorf, Germany

From December 7th through to the 9th, SGS will be attending the International Wind Turbine Blade Manufacture Conference 2010 in Düsseldorf, Germany. During the three day event, SGS experts will
present a wide array of Wind Turbine Blade Testing services, including live demonstration of static and fatigue tests.

From December 7th until the 9th, SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, will attend the International Wind Turbine Blade Manufacture Conference 2010 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Held at the Maritime Hotel, the conference provides a unique opportunity for wind blade manufacturers, end users, researchers and materials and technology suppliers to gather together and discuss the latest issues from production technology, materials, monitoring and testing for wind turbine blade manufacture. With the global expansion of alternative energy markets, wind farms are extending offshore and onshore, leading to increased demand for turbines and blades. The size of the turbines required is also growing, which provides new challenges for blade manufacturers. The Wind Turbine Blade Manufacture Conference 2010 aims to discuss this and more of the industry’s latest challenges, from design, materials and composites processing, to qualification and testing of the wind turbine blades. Organized by Applied Market Information Ltd (AMI), a specialist market research and consulting company, the conference is the perfect meeting place for key players in the renewable energy sector worldwide.

The three-day event provides a unique occasion for SGS to present its wide array of Wind Turbine Blade Testing services to the international audience, initially performed at the innovative SGS Wind Energy Technology Center (WETC) in Tianjin, China. A highlight of the conference will be the live demonstration of static and fatigue tests on rotor blades, conducted by Ullrich Knopf, Global Wind Project Manager at SGS. SGS Global Competence Center Renewable Energy offers a comprehensive full-scale Wind Turbine Blade Testing aimed at extending the lifecycle of wind rotor blades and minimizing the risk of design flaws and manufacturing defects. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology for load application and blade measurements, the SGS Wind Energy Technology Center (WETC) can perform static and fatigue tests for various purposes, including certification testing in accordance with IEC 61400-23, rotor blade design validation, manufacturing quality testing and validation of repairs and design changes.

With Wind Turbine Blade Testing SGS ensures that rotor blades meet the site-specific conditions and operate safely and efficiently throughout their intended lifecycle. Visitors are welcome to discuss any aspect of the various services offered for the renewable energy sector with SGS experts.
