Hilma extend their range of clamping elements and locking cylinders for wind turbines

For varied tasks, high clamping and locking forces

Following the market launch of modular designed rotor locking systems for wind turbines, Hilma-Römheld GmbH have now gone on to extend their industry-specific product portfolio with a number of clamping elements for additional applications. Their focus is on catering for large-volume, heavy components which require great clamping force and positioning accuracy and on simplifying the set-up process. The range of standard wedge clamps, sliding clamps and hollow piston cylinders available for wind turbine components means that very high clamping forces of up to 1250 kN can be achieved for each clamping point. Thus even complete rotor blades, gears and nacelles can be fixed quickly and safely to be processed. The range includes mechanically, hydraulically and electromechanically driven clamping elements which only require short set-up times, can easily be retrofitted, allow ergonomic working conditions and comply with high safety standards. All these products are manufactured by Hilma-Römheld GmbH, a global leader in the field of industrial clamping and locking technology, exclusively at their headquarters in Hilchenbach, Germany.


Clamping forces of up to 1,250 kN

Our range comprises a great number of mechanically, hydraulically and electromechanically driven clamping elements suitable for components of almost any size and shape with straight, inclined or uneven clamping edges. To meet even higher safety requirements we can offer special locking systems, adjustable position control systems or additional safety levels. While the variable adjustment of their clamping height makes hollow piston cylinders suitable for the majority of clamping tasks, sliding clamps are particularly recommended for limited space because of their compact design. Hydraulic wedge clamps are designed for use in tough environments where high clamping forces of up to 1,250 kN are required.


Modular range of rotor locking systems

Hilma’s recently launched modular rotor locking system for revision and maintenance work on onshore and offshore wind turbines with a capacity of up to 6 megawatts has attracted great interest. The elements are based on a double-acting bolt with position control, which locks the rotor. It is available with a check valve, an additional mechanical lock or an adjustable position control. All systems are low maintenance, resistant to corrosion and produced in a compact design to suit customers' requirements. They are suitable for temperatures of between -30°C and +70°C.
