Voith Industrial Services Wind Gearing up for the International Market

The Polish wind energy market has been highly dynamic in its development over the past few years. This is accompanied by a rise in the enquiries of customers and international wind turbine manufacturers, e.g. the Spanish power utility Iberdrola in Poland. Voith Industrial Services Wind is rising to this challenge, and since the beginning of the year has been training eight Polish service technicians belonging to Hörmann Serwis Polska Sp. z.o.o.

The Polish colleagues received their first basic knowledge regarding service work early on in the year during a three-day seminar in Senftenberg (near Dresden). The subjects included theoretical instruction and an introduction to the field of wind energy (principles of wind energy), practical abseiling exercises including rescue training and an occupational health examination regarding fitness for working at heights. The existing experience of the Hörmann colleagues from the area of electrical technology is the perfect complement to the service requirements.


With training on the job, the first Polish services teams of 2 were assigned to the existing teams in Germany, so that they could become familiar with the work on-site at German wind farms. The wind farms Karstädt, Zabenstedt and Prittitz are part of the first maintenance and service-accompanying orders for Nordex and GE turbines. The four service teams will

be deployed nationally and internationally in future, as and when required, in order to extend the existing expertise further. The next task of the Polish service technicians in Germany will involve the erection and turn-key commissioning of 18 e.n.o. wind turbines.

The concept underlying the qualification of the Polish Hörmann employees gives Voith Industrial Services Wind the opportunity to establish a network of qualified service technicians in Poland, thereby enabling a flexible response to national and international service enquiries.
