Brazil - State and federal authorities sign agreement called "The Letter of the Winds" - "La Carta de los Vientos"

In the implementation of the National Wind Forum, in Natal (state of Rio Grande do Norte), the main figures of federal and state Goverment signed the "Letter of the Winds", a compromise that contemplates the development of public policies and goals in relation to the production of wind energy.

This commitment places special emphasis on fundraising, incentives, and public policy formulation for development of clean energy. In this regard, the Minister of Environment of Brazil ordered to set targets, funding and regulatory frameworks, among other considerations, reflecting the willingness of the national government to reduce taxes to zero for wind generation equipment.

For its part, the Secretary of Energy of the Government of Rio Grande do Norte, said that the imprint of the Letter of the Winds requires the definition of a calendar to promote wind energy and everything related to it, such as research, development, and tax abatements. For this, the incentives are fundamental through grants from the Government, as was the case of several leading countries in wind energy.

For all the above-mentioned, the Letter of the Winds is considered an historic step which imprints a strong impetus to wind energy in the country.
