Marine and Wind Energy to Work in Tandem

New report to be launched at media round table in Bath - register for your place now
The BWEA (British Wind Energy Association) will launch a new marine renewables report at a media roundtable running alongside its Wave and Tidal conference in Bath on 30th April.
The report describes benefits of a diverse energy mix in the UK. Alongside other technologies the report looks at the potential that marine energy holds for supplying renewable electricity some- thing of particular interest to the South West considering the significant potential for harnessing tidal power that lies in the Severn Estuary.
The roundtable will also offer an opportunity to further explore the potential for regional on and offshore wind energy and how the variety of renewable energy developments planned for the South We- st can bring economic and employment benefits to the area.
BWEA's Head of Offshore, Duncan Ayling, who will also be speaking at the round table,
comments: "Wind and marine energy working in tandem could provide millions of homes in the South West with clean, sustainable energy. Projects such as the proposed Severn Barrage and the Wavehub,
along with on and offshore wind developments can bring jobs and investments to the region."
Other speakers from BWEA will include: Chris Tomlinson, Director of Programme Strategy and Charles Anglin, Communications Director.Representing the South West RDA will be Nick Harrington, Head of Marine Energy and Clare Gibson, Director of Sustainable Resources.
The presentations will be followed by a question and answer session.
The media round table will take place at the Wave and Tidal Conference, Hilton Bath City, April 30th, 11am to 12.30pm, followed by lunch at the assembly rooms. Please book in advance.
