Ukraine - Cabinet approves wind power station construction

Ukranian government passes resolution to carry out investment projects for the construction of wind power stations in the Crimean and Mykolayiv Region

The Ukranian government has passed a resolution to carry out investment projects for the construction of wind power stations in Crimea and Mykolayiv Region.

According to the document, Ukraine plans to build a Western Crimean wind power station (in Crimea), a Southern Ukrainian wind power station (in Mykolayiv Region), and a wind power station of 100 plus 350 MW capacity [as received] on the Kerch Peninsula, the Cabinet of Ministers' department for media relations told the UNIAN news agency.

The main objective of carrying out these projects is to cut the consumption of natural gas by switching from traditional to alternative energy resources, the department said.

The Cabinet of Ministers said that these projects would help provide energy for Crimea. At the same time, it is estimated that 696m cu.m. of gas would be saved annually. Also, 4,500 jobs would be created.
