REpower Systems AG announces financial figures for Short Fiscal Year 2008 (01.01.2008 – 31.03.2008)

Hamburg, 30 June 2008. REpower Systems AG (WKN 617703) posted gross revenues of EUR 150.2 million in the Short Fiscal Year 2008 compared with EUR 125.4 million in the same period of the previous year. This corresponds to an increase of 19.8 percent. The operating result (EBIT) increased strongly in the reporting period from TEUR 225.4 to EUR 3.1 million. After taxes and interest this results in positive net earnings of EUR 1.4 million after TEUR 15.0 in the first quarter of 2007.

In the period from January to March 2008, REpower Systems AG installed and re-cognised in income 65 turbines with a total output of 129.0 megawatts. This represents an increase in installed output of 112.0 percent compared to the same period of the previous year (32 turbines and 61.0 MW).

Including the financial data for the consolidated investment companies, the Group’s total operating revenue amounted to EUR 150.2 million, compared with the total operating revenue of EUR 125.4 million recorded in the first three months of 2007. Sales increased year-on-year from EUR 97.7 million to EUR 147.4 million.

Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) for the period from January to March 2008 amounted to EUR 3.1 million, compared with TEUR 255.4 in the same period of the previous year. Net earnings in the Short Fiscal Year 2008 amounted to EUR 1.4 million, compared with TEUR 15.0 in the first quarter of 2007.

At the end of the period under review, the order backlog amounted to 696 wind turbines (previous year: 498) with a total rated output of 1,419 megawatts (previous year: 984.5 megawatts). This corresponds to a potential order volume of around EUR 1.4 billion (previous year: EUR 888.7 million). The international share of output in relation to turbines which made up sales was over 82%.

Against the background of the high order backlog in fiscal 2008/09, the REpower Group is expecting that sales volume will rise to €1.1 billion in fiscal 2008/09. The sustained improvement in cost structures and processes within the REpower Group will lead to a further rise in earning power. REpower is therefore expecting an EBIT margin of between 5.5% and 6.5% in 2008/09. Planning for fiscal 2009/10 is for sales growth of between 40% and 50%, which will again go hand-in-hand with a rise in the EBIT margin.
