Wind Industry Profile of

ProfEC Ventus GmbH Introduces New Barometric, Ambient Pressure Sensors. Calibrated by default.

ProfEC Ventus GmbH is proud to announce the release of two groundbreaking barometric ambient pressure sensors, the AP65 and AP80. Designed to meet the growing demand for high-precision measurements in the wind and solar energy sectors, these sensors set a new standard for reliability, accuracy, and performance.

5th September 2024, Oldenburg, Germany

The AP65 and AP80 sensors are designed to fill the market gap left by the diminishing availability of similar sensors used in the sector earlier, like Ammonit AB60 and AB100. These new sensors from ProfEC Ventus offer superior performance and durability, addressing the critical needs of professionals in meteorological data logging, wind energy resource assessment, and solar power monitoring.

Unparalleled Precision and Performance

The AP65 operates within a pressure range of 650 to 1050 mbar, while the AP80 covers a range of 800 to 1050 mbar. Both sensors provide highly accurate measurements, with the AP65 offering a total accuracy (including non-linearity and hysteresis) of ±2 mbar and the AP80 delivering a total accuracy of ±1.25 mbar at standard testing conditions (±0,5% FSO). These specifications represent an improvement over the retired AB60 and AB100, which merely offered an accuracy within ±3 mbar and ±5 mbar (±1% FSO), respectively.

The AP65 offers outstanding long-term stability with a precision of ±0.4 mbar, while the AP80 delivers even higher stability at ±0.25 mbar, ensuring reliable performance over extended periods.

Technical Advantages

Compared to the phased-out sensors AB60 and AB100, which used a piezoelectric pressure measurement principle, the AP65 and AP80 provide a more robust solution with better repeatability and long-term stability, based on piezoresistive pressure sensing principle, which is common in modern barometric sensors due to its high precision and stability.

Moreover, the ProfEC Ventus sensors are built to last, featuring a rugged construction designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions. With a protection class of IP64 for the models AB60 and AB100, the new ProfEC Ventus sensors AP65 and AP80, made from stainless steel, offer a superior protection class of IP67, warranting enhanced durability and still yielding superior accuracy and reliability over time (lifetime cycles: > 100 million). In addition, the AP65 and AP80 sensors count with reverse polarity and short-circuit protection.

AP65 and AP80 can operate across a wide temperature range of -40°C to +105°C. This broad temperature tolerance ensures reliable performance in extreme environmental conditions.

Long-Term reliability is underlined by a lifetime of over 100 million cycles, indicating its suitability for applications that demand durability and reliability over long periods.

Calibration and Compliance

Both, the AP65 and AP80, are delivered with traceable calibration report, meeting the stringent requirements of an ISO 17025 calibration, based on DKD (German Calibration Service) normative standards, proven by DAkkS (German Accreditation Body) with ilac-MRA conformity. This calibration process is in full compliance with relevant MEASNET and IEC standards, providing users with confidence in the traceability and accuracy of their measurements. A calibration report including the calibration certificate and calibration mark accompany with senor delivered by ProfEC Ventus GmbH.

Meeting Market Needs

The introduction of the AP65.400 and AP80.250 sensors mark a significant advancement in barometric pressure measurement technology. With their superior accuracy, enhanced durability, and reliable, traceable calibration, these sensors are positioned to become the new standard for professionals in the wind and solar measurement industries. The ISO 17025 calibration makes them entirely suitable for IEC, MEASNET and FGW conform measurement campaigns.

ProfEC Ventus GmbH remains committed to delivering innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of the market. The release of these sensors underscores the company's dedication to excellence in precision measurement technologies.
