Jürgen Koppmann appointed to the Supervisory Board

(Wiesbaden, 29 August 2024) Jürgen Koppmann, banker and business economist, has been appointed to the Supervisory Board of ABO Energy by the Wiesbaden County Court. The long-standing member of the Managing Board of Nürnberger Umweltbank succeeds Eveline Lemke, who stepped down for personal reasons. The management plans to propose the election of Jürgen Koppmann to the company's shareholders at the Annual General Meeting in 2025.

“With Jürgen Koppmann, our Supervisory Board gains additional business and financial expertise,” says Dr Jochen Ahn, Managing Director of ABO Energy KGaA. Jürgen Koppmann had already been a member of the ABO Energy Supervisory Board from 2015 to 2017. During this time, the introduction of a tendering system fundamentally changed the conditions for the expansion of wind power in Germany. “With his support, we diversified our business activities geographically and technologically at that time,” says the Managing Director. When returning to the Board of Umweltbank after several years, he resigned from the Supervisory Board of ABO Energy to avoid potential conflicts of interest. In December 2023, Jürgen Koppmann ended a total of 19 years on the Umweltbank Managing Board. He now works as a freelance consultant for corporate and project financing.

Managing Director Ahn: “We are delighted to have Jürgen Koppmann back on board and at the same time regret the departure of Eveline Lemke.” The former Deputy Minister-President and Minister of Economic Affairs of Rhineland-Palatinate had been a member of the Supervisory Board since June 2017. “She accompanied the change of legal form of ABO Wind AG to ABO Energy KGaA with great commitment and expertise,” says Ahn. “She has also given our company valuable impetus in the development of standards for even more sustainable corporate governance.” Eveline Lemke is a proven expert in sustainability and has served as Managing Director of Thinking Circular, the company she founded, since 2017. “We would like to express our sincere thanks for her valuable work on the ABO Energy Supervisory Board and wish her all the best for the future,” says Ahn.
