India - Suzlon secures 200MW in wind turbine orders from China

"With our dedicated integrated manufacturing facility in Tianjin, Suzlon is poised to be a key player in this rapidly growing market."

Suzlon Energy Tianjin, a wholly owned subsidiary of Indian wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Energy, has secured orders totaling nearly 200MW of capacity for wind farm projects in China.

The first order from Ao Lu Jia New Energy Development, calls for the delivery of 148.5MW of wind turbine capacity through 99 units of the S82-1.5MW turbine for use in three wind farms. Deliveries for this wind farm are scheduled for shipment during the second quarter of the financial year 2008-09.

The second order from Beifang Longyuan North Union calls for the delivery of 50MW of wind turbine capacity through 40 units of Suzlon's S641.25MW turbine, scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of the financial year 2009-10.

Paulo Fernando Soares, CEO of Suzlon Energy Tianjin, said: "China is an extremely important market for Suzlon. Growing from a low base, China's wind energy market has set a scorching pace towards meeting its renewable energy goals, growing at 127% in 2006-07 and setting a three-year average of 97%. With our dedicated integrated manufacturing facility in Tianjin, Suzlon is poised to be a key player in this rapidly growing market."
