Global Wind Service secures full Fécamp pre-assembly scope
The pre-assembly scope includes pre-assembly of the tower components as well as assembly of the HSBM tool on the nacelles. GWS started mobilizing in February and the first vessel load out is expected to take place in May.
The award comes on the back of several successful pre-assembly projects together (Wind Farm Fryslân in the Netherlands for all 89 turbines and Greater Changhua 1 & 2a Offshore Wind Farms for 111 turbines).
“We are very excited to be involved in this second major offshore project in France after Parc éolien en mer de Saint-Nazaire last year. Over the past year we have proven that we are able to execute very large and complex projects, even in a market which is relatively new, when it comes to offshore wind.
Our French business unit was established only one year ago, and I’m really proud of how far we have come in this short time. It’s our clear goal to continuously develop our French unit and footprint underlining our position as preferred partner for offshore wind installation – also in France. To be successful in this, it requires the right competences and a strong local workforce – something we are very committed to.
We are now looking forward to Parc éoliens en mer de Fécamp, contributing to even more low carbon energy for France” said Adrien Galinier, Area Manager France, Global Wind Service.
Commenting on the award Hervé Bouraima, Global Commodity Manager, Strategic Procurement, Offshore, at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy said:
“During our long-standing collaboration with Global Wind Service, they have proven to us, repeatedly, that they are highly capable of delivering a continuous high quality on our large and more complex offshore scope, no matter if it is in the Netherlands, Taiwan, US, and now also France.
I am confident that this will be yet another successful project together”.
The 497 MW wind farm will feature 71 SG 7.0-154 turbines to be manufactured in France. The turbines will be located 13-24 kilometres off the coast of Fécamp. Once complete, the wind farm will provide electricity to power to 770,000 people.
