Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke GmbH is delivering Power Cables for the Wind farm „BARD Offshore 1“

Nordenham/Bremen, December 6, 2007

Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke GmbH (NSW), Nordenham, has been awarded by BARD Engineering GmbH, Emden, for the delivery of a power cable for the 400 MW wind farm „BARD Offshore 1“. The wind farm consists of 80 wind turbines and is located 100 km north-west of the isle Borkum. The medium high voltage cables produced by NSW link the turbines by bundle and conduct the 33 KV alternating current. In addition to the power cable NSW provides not only its know-how gained out of a huge variety of offshore-projects, but also special cable accessories for the wind turbines developed by BARD. It is planned that the wind farm “BARD Offshore 1” will be finalized in September 2010.

Due to the increasing demand from the renewable-energies sector NSW has decided at an early stage to invest € 40 Mio. in the production and development of power cables until the beginning of 2009. Thus NSW will also be in future the qualified partner for successful offshore-projects.
