Vestas receives order for V90-3.0 MW wind turbines in Canada

Vestas has received an order for 48 units of the V90-3.0 MW wind turbine to be installed at the 144 MW Dokie Ridge project. EarthFirst Canada Inc. has placed the order, and the project will be located on Dokie Ridge in the Rocky Mountain foothills of the Peace River region in the north-eastern part of the province of British Columbia, Canada. Vestas will supply and commission the wind turbines, and delivery will begin in the first half of 2008 with commissioning expected to be completed in 2009. The order also includes a five-year service and maintenance agreement.

EarthFirst Canada Inc. is a public Canadian company that was formed from the consolidation of the management expertise and wind power development pipeline assets of Creststreet, a long-time customer of Vestas in Canada, with that of Earth First Energy, a leading British Columbia wind developer.

EarthFirst Canada presently operates 82 units of Vestas’ V80-1.8 MW turbine on behalf of Creststreet managed wind portfolios. The Dokie Ridge project is expected to be the first wind power project installed in British Columbia, which has, as its goal, the acquisition of 90 per cent of the electricity generation from clean or renewable sources of energy.

“The Dokie Ridge project will be the largest V90-3.0 MW project in Canada to date and reflects the country’s growing investment in wind power. In 2006, Canada more than doubled its total installed capacity,” says Jens Søby, President of Vestas Americas A/S. “We are pleased to see that our long-time relationship with Creststreet is carried over to EarthFirst Canada and that the V90-3.0 MW wind turbines will be in place prior to the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver to help maximize the use of clean, renewable energy.”

The above order does not affect Vestas’ expectations for 2007, cf. Company announcement No. 35/2007 of 6 November 2007.
