Vena Energy selects ODE as Owner’s Engineer
Across the two-year contract, ODE will oversee a range of services—from basic engineering, to wind turbine generators (WTG) package support, and EPC preparation support—with the aim for the Project to achieve commercial operation by 2026, ahead of the Korean Government’s goal to establish an offshore wind capacity of 12 GW by 2030.
ODE will coordinate activities on this project between its Seoul and London offices, blending its local engineering knowledge with its international engineering track record to provide fit-for-purpose engineering.
Jinho Paik, ODE’s Korea Country Manager commented, “This is an exciting period of development for the Korean offshore wind market. With a strong foundation of work in Korea already secured, we look forward to drawing on our presence in Seoul and our expert service-offering to continue to build relationships with the country’s offshore wind developers.”
Kwangjin Cheong, Head of Vena Energy Korea, added, “We look forward to working with ODE for the Yokji Offshore Wind Project. We believe that our regional experience in wind energy, augmented by ODE’s strong technical capabilities in Korea, will help us deliver the project smoothly and safely.”
Mike Welch, Country Director for the Department for International Trade in Seoul said, “We have strongly supported the UK’s offshore wind engineering and consulting providers in South Korea. I am delighted to see that ODE is continuing to collaborate successfully in the market: helping South Korea support the global effort to address climate change with offshore wind a
vital part of its future energy mix.”
