News Release from TenneT TSO GmbH
Wind Industry Profile of
Ukrainian and Moldovan electricity grids linked to European high-voltage grid
TenneT fully supports this initiative and emphasizes the importance of an independent, secure and stable supply of electricity in Ukraine, Europe and thus also the countries where TenneT itself operates, the Netherlands and Germany.
Critical infrastructure, in this case our electricity system, has enormous social value, even more so in these times of conflict in Europe. Security of electricity supply is crucial to our societies. To be clear, we are fully committed to ensuring that security of energy supply, we have done so in the past and we will certainly continue to do so in the future. Against the backdrop of the current Russian aggression in Ukraine, we are also committed to supporting our governments in phasing out fossil fuels and increasing the share of renewables as soon as possible. For example, Germany has announced its intention to invest 200 billion euros in the coming years to make its energy supply more independent of oil and gas. Also the Netherlands is fully engaged in a switch to a largely sustainable energy system. This will lead to a review of grid development plans in both the Netherlands and Germany and therefore also affect our planning.
