WWEA General Assembly elects new Board

Mar del Plata/Bonn (WWEA) – The General Assembly of the World Wind Energy Association has elected the WWEA Board for the next two years on the occasion of the 6th World Wind Energy Conference 2007 in Mar del Plata, Argentina. Dr Anil Kane, WWEA President since 2005 and Chairman of the Indian Wind Energy Association, has been reelected unanimously.

In his statement after the elections, Dr Anil Kane pointed out that WWEA sees neither in fossil nor in nuclear energies a viable option for the future energy supply. According to Dr Kane, WWEA will continue its work on raising the awareness on the benefits that renewable energies and wind energy offer, especially to the developing countries. Dr Kane underlined that WWEA will put a strong focus also on education and training in order to enhance the human capacities especially in the new and emerging wind markets around the world.

• Prof. He Dexin, President Chinese Wind Energy Association
• Hermann Oelsner, President African Wind Energy Association, South Africa
• Prof. Galal Osman, President Egyptian Wind Energy Association
• The Hon Peter Rae AO, Chairman Renewable Energy Generators Australia
• Prof. Erico Spinadel, Argentine Wind Energy Association AAEE
• Ass. Prof. Tanay Sidki Uyar, Eurosolar Turkey/Turkish Wind Energy Association

Heinrich Bartelt (German Wind Energy Association BWE) has been reelected as WWEA Treasurer.
