RTS Wind AG receives maintenance contract from RWE

The independent service provider RTS from Bremen takes over the annual maintenance of the wind turbines of the RWE offshore wind farms "Amrumbank" and "Nordsee Ost" / Up to 70 people will be on duty to maintain the 128 turbines

RWE operates the offshore wind farms "Amrumbank" (302 megawatts) and "Nordsee Ost" (295 megawatts) off the coast of the island of Heligoland. Wind, waves and salt water - the turbines at sea are exposed to enormous stresses. As part of a proactive maintenance concept, the various components of the two offshore wind farms are therefore checked regularly. This year's maintenance campaign for the total of 128 wind turbines (80 Siemens SWT 3.6-120 and 48 Senvion 6.2M-126 turbines) will be carried out by RTS Wind AG. The service provider from Bremen recently signed a corresponding contract with RWE Renewables.

Ivo Lippe, CEO of RTS Wind AG, established the first sales contact with the wind farm operator: “We were delighted to hear the news that RWE has given the green light to our carefully prepared maintenance concept and we’re looking forward to carrying out the annual maintenance.”

His son Jerome Lippe (Project Management/Sales) is looking forward to the challenge: "After a long phase of preparation, we are happy that all the contracts have been signed and things can now really get started. We would like to thank RWE and everyone involved for their trust. We are very much looking forward to working together!"

Offshore work is scheduled to begin in May. The annual maintenance of a turbine is similar to an inspection of a car – but of course on a larger scale. For example, the annual maintenance campaign involves tightening bolts, topping up consumable fluids and inspecting the inside of the rotor blades. At peak times, up to 70 employees will be on duty for turbine maintenance.

At the RTS headquarters, a team of project planners, logisticians and recruiters are already busy working with RWE to prepare the maintenance campaign in the best possible way - because the offshore work is expected to be completed by late summer. The technical management on behalf of RTS is being taken over by Stefan Lücking (Authorized Signatory & Technical Manager), who can look back on 20 years of experience.
